Enchanted Rock State Natural Area
Although a little far away, the Enchanted Rock State Natural is one of the best outdoor day trips you can take from Dallas. The area is around four hours away from Dallas, so be prepared to commit an entire day to this trip. When you arrive you can explore over 11 miles of trails, allowing you to get out and explore the beauty of nature. The area’s namesake, the Enchanted Rock is truly a sight to behold. It stands 425 feet tall, a massive pink granite mountain that is the largest pink granite monadnock in the entire country.
Tyler
In the spring, Tyler is one of the best day trips you can take from Dallas. The area is home to Tyler Azalea Trail, one of Texas’ premier springtime destinations. Here, you can enjoy 10 miles of residential gardens and historic home sites that are covered in gorgeous scenes of azalea, tulips, and dogwood. Tyler can also be a good day trip destination in the fall as well, as the area is known for its beautiful fall foliage. Athens
